I agree completely! I do all of these things and I'm losing about 1-1.5 pounds a week right now. I've already lost 50 lbs. Just 20 more to go!

It helps if you have a scale in your room or your bathroom to check every day your progress, that way you learn how your body is responding to the program.

I've lost over 100lbs with 66 left to go doing nothing more than using MFP, having friends and opening my diary to them. I stay within my calories (normally, lol) and eat whatever I want.
